Interview with Antonio ”Beko” Proano, assistant to CEO

To create contant for our social media channels, Antonio Proano Jr, assistant to Antonio Proano Sr, CEO of Corporacion Rio Grande, has agreed to lend a few moments of his precious time to an conversational interview with the company’s Head of Social Media, Helmut Gauder. The interview will be published in fragments on our LinkedIn and Facebook accounts to create a “buzz” but we have also decided to make the interview available in full for our loyal followers here on our website. The interview has been transcribed to text by Mr. Nelson Baretto, head of Marketing.

H.G.: Beko, thank you for taking the time for this interview. You have worked for Corporacion Rio Grande almost your entire career. Would you mind sharing with our many followers how you came to join the company?

A.P.Jr.: No I do not mind. When we still lived in Mexico, after I graduated from high school, I did not really know what I wanted to do. After all, I was the first academic of my family and I felt a great responsibility and also some hesitation. I have always liked people and making deals, so I thought “why not work as a recruiter?”. So I started working as a recruiter at one of the top recruitment firms. I got to meet top candidates looking for jobs, I got to meet top executives from all of Mexico and I got to make cold calls on the phone. But I felt something was not right, and then Papi called me.

H.G.: Papi? You mean mister Antonio Proano Sr?

A.P.Jr: Yes Helmut, that is correct. He had seen that my talents could be better used elsewhere and said it was time I follow the passion. So I joined Corporacion Rio Grande as his executive assistant.

H.G.: So would you say that fruit, seeds and tobacco are your passion?

A.P.Jr.: (Chuckles) No, pursuing and sometimes making love to beautiful women is my passion but I am also keen on fruit, seeds and tobacco.

H.G: I see.

A.P.Jr.: Yes.

H.G:  Where do you find your inspiration?

A.P.Jr: I don’t really know. I have not thought much about it.

H.G.: Could it be that you find a tremendous source of inspiration in your father, the founder of this company?

A.P.Jr.: Maybe, I guess that is a possibility.

H.G.: Please share with our fans what it’s like to work with such a potent man.

A.P.Jr.: Papi and I have a great work relationship. We are both very intelligent but in different ways, so we compliment each other. I usually come up with many good ideas for him. Like on how to better organize things and improve the business. I also sit and wait a lot for business to come in. But my father usually works in his office and I spend more of my time out on the streets, where the real business is.

H.G.: That’s right, you were responsible for Corporacion Rio Grande’s pop up shop a few years ago. What do you take with you from that experience.

A.P.Jr.: Never leave anything on wheels unguarded in the outskirts of Paris! No, jokes aside, we found the cart just a few days later and then there was just one homeless guy still guarding it so it was easy to get it back. But those were exciting days and I am eager to try something innovative like that again.

H.G.: What does the future hold for Antonio Proano Jr?

A.P.Jr.: (Laughs) That is the question everybody wants to know! (Pause) I don’t really know, we will see.

H.G.: Thank you for your time.

A.P.Jr.: Can I go home now?

H.G.: I don’t really know. Did your fath (End of recording)
